Thanks to the generous collaboration of Gladys Cubero, a former student of the College San José La Salle College of Puerto Cabello, who lives in Madrid, Spain, we have created a small medicine bank to help alleviate the serious humanitarian crisis that Venezuela is going through.
Since 2019 we have been carrying out campaigns in conjunction with Caritas Diocese and the Red Cross of Puerto Cabello for the distribution of these medicines, these campaigns have decreased a lot due to the pandemic, so we had the need to improve the distribution channels so that the medicines reach those who need them most.
In view of this problem and following the advice of Pope Francis on the occasion of the IV Forum of NGO’s of Catholic Inspiration (December 7, 2019) inviting us to work as a team among member NGO’s, also within the celebration of the Centenary of Lasallian presence in Puerto Cabello and in line with the exhortation of our Puerto Cabello Bishop Saul Figueroa in his message for this Lent 2021, inviting to participate in the CARITAS campaign “Medicines to Save Lives”, the Alumni Association of San José La Salle Collegeof Puerto Cabello made a donated all its Medicine Bank to Caritas Diocese of Puerto Cabello in March 3, 2021.
We hope with this, not only to contribute to saving lives in the midst of the serious humanitarian emergency crisis in our country, but also to strengthen the collaborative projects between our institutions as members of the Forum of Catholic-inspired NGOs.
