On October, the new headquarters of the OIEC (International Office of Catholic Education) were inaugurated at the Generalate of the Brothers of the Christian Schools in Rome. With the presence of His Excellency Archbishop Angelo Vincenzo Zani, Secretary of the Congregation for Catholic Education, Philippe Richard, Secretary General of OIEC, and other personalities representing different confederations of Catholic education. After the blessing of the new offices, Brother Jorge Gallardo de Alba, FSC, Vicar General of the Institute of Brothers of the Christian Schools and Mr. Richard addressed the guests.
The origins of the OIEC date back to 1952 with its foundation in Switzerland. It is an organization officially recognized by the Holy See and UNESCO. It currently has 100 constituent members, 17 associate members, 10 cooperating members, 7 corresponding members and is present in 103 countries: Africa (37), Asia (11), Europe (23), North America (13), Oceania (2), Middle East (4), and South America (13).
