The President of the EEC (Spanish Episcopal Conference) receives the President of OMAEC

The President of the EEC (Spanish Episcopal Conference) receives in his office at the Madrid headquarters, the President of OMAEC, for a working meeting.

HE Cardinal D. Ricardo Blazquez, president of the Spanish Episcopal Conference, has received the President of OMAEC, Jose Antonio Cecilia, in a relaxed and warm meeting, in order to address several important issues were pending.

First of all, there was provided an OMAEC Introduction Report containing a comprehensive summary of its presence in the world, official members and correspondents and our currents By-Laws.

Right after, they talked about the situation regarding the PCPL OMAEC (Pontifical Council for Laity).

In this regard, D. Ricardo words were reassuring in the sense of confirming the creation of a new Dicastery, which will commence to work by next September, and will cover the three main lines of action aimed to defend Education, Family and Life; all of them with the confluences of lay organizations that are currently in different Vatican congregations and related councils to these main lines.

In a high spirits talk, there was discussed about the Alumni, their organizations and the effectiveness of their contributions to the Church today, recalling the defense of Pope Francisco to such organizations. He also remember to us the celebration of WYD at Krakow, Poland. We pointed that the Young OMAEC will attend, represented by its president.

Later on, it was discussed the need for appointment of an Ecclesiastical Assistant to the OMAEC, which traditionally tends to be of the same nationality as the president, in fact, we are already in contact with the President of the Education Commission of the Episcopal Conference, Monsignor Cesar Franco, to study and discern on this subject.

The meeting concluded with the wish expressed in strengthening the continuity of the great work done by the Alumni and the need for our continued contribution of service, textually.
