On 18 and 19 November 2023, on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the foundation of the Italian Confederation of Former Students of Catholic Schools (Confederex), a meeting was held in Milan, in the Basilica of S. Ambrogio, on the theme “Yesterday students, today responsible men and women in the Church and in society”. There were two speakers: Father Alberto Zanini, a Salesian and assistant to Unaec Europe, and Professor Roberto Pasolini, rector of the European Leopardi Institute. An interesting and lively debate followed, during which the modernisation of teaching methods in Italian schools was also addressed.
The elective National Assembly then met on Sunday 19 November, during which the social charges were renewed. Dr Giuseppe Mariano, currently President of Unaec Europe, was unanimously elected President of Confederex.
At the end of the meeting, the new President outlined a number of programmes which will form the basis of his term of office and which, with the full support of the new Board of Directors, should lead to a genuine relaunch of Confederex.
In mid-December, the National Council will meet, during which the other functions (vice-presidents, secretary, treasurer, etc.) will be defined.
